It has been said that before an old wineskin receives new wine, it must undergo a painful process. First, it is immersed in water to soften its hardness. Then it is soaked in oil, each crack patiently massaged until its lost flexibility is restored. Only then can it once again become a usable wineskin.While writing these pages, I realized I was part of that process. There were days when I felt submerged in waters of silence, as if God were not speaking, as if everything had stopped. Other days, the pressure of the oil hurt like a massage on an open wound.
