The Saab JAS 39 Gripen entered service in the second half of the 1990s and constituted a decisive improvement over its predecessors such as the long-lived Saab 37 Viggen fighter. The Swedish Gripen combat and air superiority aircraft was soon built in a two-seater version to meet the pilots' advanced training needs. It maintained basically the same great performance as the single-seater fighter with increased operational flexibility which also allowed him to perform reconnaissance and ground attack missions. The interesting aerodynamic layout that ensured high maneuverability, excellent flight performance, a maximum speed of Mach 2.0 and the ability to carry an articulated and flexible offensive cargo also made it a good commercial success outside of Sweden For collectors over the age of 14
